| Doringbaai
is located 40km north of Lamberts Bay and 12km south from the beautiful
Olifants River mouth. The Southern Right whales are one of the main
attractions as they enter the bay every year to calve between May to
November. This fishing/crayfish haven also lends it out to activities like diving, kayaking, walking and 4x4 trails as well as wine tasting/buying at the nearby wineries. Other prominent features are the lighthouse that is still in operation and access to the Namaqualand flowers during late winter and early spring. Presently you're still allowed to feast on black and white mussels and lobsters, if you're prepared to collect them once you're issued with a license. The house renders itself to accommodate families/large groups to a maximum of 14 people and consists of 7 en-suite bedrooms, two rooms with double beds and the rest with two single beds each. It has a fully equipped large kitchen/dining/lounge area. Two outside en-suite units that can accommodate another 4 people are also available on request, but is not included in the family/group tariff (negotiable). |
